Tips & Tricks for the Ceremony
Your wedding ceremony shouldn’t feel like a cookie-cutter script—it should feel exactly like you.
To help you picture how we can bring your vision to life, here are the answers to some of the most common questions I get about the flow, timing, and personal touches of the big day.
How long is the ceremony?
Most ceremonies I conduct run for about 30 minutes, which is the perfect sweet spot for keeping your guests engaged. My goal is to create a beautifully paced, memorable experience that flows naturally without ever feeling rushed or overly long.
Can we personalise the ceremony?
Absolutely, because your ceremony should be a true reflection of your unique journey together. We can completely tailor the style and flow by incorporating meaningful readings, your favourite music, symbolic rituals, and even plenty of humour and personal storytelling to make it truly yours.
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely, and I highly encourage you to share what is in your heart! You can write your own personal vows to read from a card or a beautiful vow booklet on the day, and I will happily hold the microphone for you to ensure every single guest hears your promises. Alternatively, if you are feeling a bit nervous, you can simply repeat the words after me a few sentences at a time, allowing you to hold both hands and focus entirely on each other without needing a booklet.
Can we include cultural or religious traditions?
Yes, I welcome the inclusion of any cultural customs or religious traditions that are meaningful to you and your families. Whether it is a traditional blessing, a cultural ritual, or a specific reading, we can seamlessly weave these elements into the ceremony to honour your heritage and background.
Can I live-stream my ceremony?
You certainly can, as it is a wonderful way to include loved ones who cannot make it on the day. I am more than happy to give a special shout-out to welcome your virtual guests at the very beginning, or we can arrange for one of your in-person guests to manage the stream and say a quick hello on your behalf.
Can photos be taken?
That is entirely up to you and the vibe you want to set for your day. If you prefer an “unplugged ceremony” where guests put away their phones and cameras to be fully present, I will gladly make an announcement before we begin, which you can also back up with wedding signage or a note on your invitations. On the other hand, if you are happy for everyone to snap photos throughout the ceremony, I can let them know that casual photography is more than welcome.
Can our children take part in the ceremony?
I absolutely love it when couples involve their children, and I highly encourage finding a special role for them on the day. Whether they are walking down the aisle as ring bearers, tossing petals, or standing up to deliver a fun reading like a poem by Dr. Seuss, we can find the perfect way to make them feel included in the magic.
