About MIKE
For 25 years, Mike Larkan’s outgoing personally and talent made him a household name as the nightly weatherman for Ten News.
Mike is also one of Melbourne’s favourite event hosts. A sought after compere, speaker and facilitator, Mike has been described as “entertaining”, “charismatic” and “fast on his feet”. He successfully M.C.’s award ceremonies, balls, corporate functions, carols, fundraisers and weddings.
The History
In his teens, TV Presenter and our favourite Weather Reporter Mike Larkan played guitar in a wedding band.
In his 20’s he was a wedding DJ, by his 30’s he was the MC at weddings, and now, Mike continues the trend and clear enjoyment of weddings as a registered Civil Celebrant for many lucky couples around Melbourne.
Born in Sydney, Mike’s first full-time job was with the Sun Newspaper as a copyboy at the age of 16, whilst attending a radio/TV school at night. At 18 he moved into regional radio as a DJ. When he was 22, Mike packed his bags & spent 2 years back-packing around Europe, North Africa and the US (even working on a Hollywood movie in Israel). Upon returning to Australia, he moved to Canberra where he worked in both radio and TV for more than 10 years. In the mid 90’s, Mike moved to Melbourne with his wife Kathy.
He lives bayside with his wife and two adult children Grace & Adam, and their dog Scotty.

Over the years, Mike’s outgoing personality and talent has made him a household name as the nightly weatherman for TEN News. As a journalist, he produces & writes his segments.
Mike has hosted many special events including the prestigious Young Australian of the Year Awards. Mike was also one of a select few to be nominated as an Australia Day Ambassador and Melbourne Zoo Ambassador.
He regularly hosts charity events, openings, carols by candlelight and presents weekly motivational talks to primary and secondary students around Melbourne.
Through his own company, Mike conducts corporate trivia/games nights under the banner of Larkanabout, with Mike.
He also does charity work, such as Mike Larkan’s Give a Dog a Home.
